It’s tempting to ask a man, “So, what do you do for a living?” There are many more invitational alternatives such as “Tell me what interests you?” yet we remain profoundly curious about what consumes eight hours or so of one’s day. Is this fair? Do demands on one’s time define him? When a man is voluntarily or involuntarily terminated from his job he can be facing a catastrophic personal loss. Retirement has proven to shorten a man’s natural life when not handled well as a bridge to new purposes. Your career does not define you. Pastor Paul is looking forward to tapping into you interests you, and especially when you have difficulty letting go of what others demand of you.
